NH 161 connects Akola in Maharashtra to Sangareddy in Telangana, India. The national highway transits through the towns of Washim, Hingoli, Nanded, Degloor, Bichkunda, Pitlam, Nizampet, Shankarampet(A), and Jogipet and is an integral part of the Indore-Hyderabad Economic Corridor.
The operations & maintenance project under the auspices of the Bharatmala Pariyojna flagship scheme of the National Highways Authority of India (NHA)), Givernment of India entails four laning from Kandi (Design km 0.000) (km 498.250 of NH-65) to Ramsanpalle in the state of Telangana.
Microsurfacing of the design length under the project is aimed at extending the economic lifespan of the national highway, thereby optimizing the project lifecycle cost and negating the carbon footprint associated with new highways construction.
